The Caste System

The Caste System was a social structure that classified 6 different groups of people.

Brahmans were the highest social class in the Indus Valley. Brahmans were the priests of the land. These people were considered the highest even among kings.
The next Caste (or class) in line are the rulers and fighters or the Kshatriya. These people were the second highest class in the Caste systems that included kings and Highly regarded warriors
Moving down the social ladder, we have the vaisyas, or the farmers of the society. They were important in the hierarchy and not considered the lowest  class like in many other societies.
Almost to our last Caste we have the Surdas or the laborers, all they did was work hard and serve other people.

At  the complete bottom of the  pyramid we have the Untouchables,  named so because people were not even allowed to come in contact with this group of people. This Caste represented the poor and those in poverty.
